The concept “design“ doesn’t only involve creating shapes. Just as important is innovation. As Lammhults proved with Imprint. First we developed the material. The idea was to exploit the waste from the timber industry – treetops, roots, branches – an endless natural resource. We wanted to create fibre matting with aesthetic qualities, cellulose felt decorated with fibres from bark and spruce, from chopped up newsprint. It took us three years. Only then did we begin to “shape“. And then the main goal was primarily to stress the material. A dome shaped seat shell did this best. And most comfortably. Thus was Imprint born.
